Coach to Open Second Japan Flagship Store, in Shibuya

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 12, 2002--Coach, Inc. (NYSE: COH), a leading marketer of modern classic American accessories, today announced that Coach Japan, Inc. (CJI) will be opening a second Coach flagship store in Japan located in the Shibuya section of Tokyo.

The Coach store will be located on Inokashira-dori, a central point within one of Japan's busiest shopping districts, and is expected to open in the spring of 2003.

Ian Bickley, President of Coach Japan, Inc. said, "We are extremely excited about our flagship location in Shibuya, which is expected to be one of the highest volume Coach locations in the world. Our Ginza flagship, which opened in May, has been very well received by the Japanese consumer and is on track to generate more than $15 million in sales during its first year of operation, making it the largest volume Coach store worldwide. These results led us to accelerate plans for a second flagship location."

Mr. Bickley continued, "Shibuya is one of several key commercial areas where CJI is targeting to open flagship stores and was selected to further enhance Coach's appeal and awareness with younger consumers. Our business here remains remarkably strong throughout the country as we are continuing to achieve double-digit comparable store sales increases in Japan this quarter. We are planning to open at least 10 new locations this fiscal year."

The 7,300 square foot store (approximately 680 square meters) on two floors will be designed by Michael Neumann Architecture, LLC and include the key stylistic elements of our North American flagships. The Shibuya location will have a decidedly contemporary feel featuring a sleek, open and inviting format and offering a full selection of Coach's lifestyle accessories.
