NEW YORK, Mar 07, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Coach, Inc. (NYSE: COH), a leading marketer of modern classic American accessories, will usher in a host of events in Japan next month with acclaimed music and film star Mandy Moore, the face of Coach's international spring 2005 advertising campaign. The gala week will include a number of high-profile events culminating in a performance by Mandy Moore, N.E.R.D and Japanese pop artist Mika Nakashima at Coach's Play for Peace concert benefiting UNICEF.
Mandy Moore will host several high-profile events which will include a star-studded opening ceremony for the new Coach flagship store in Nagoya on April 7th and the Coach Play for Peace concert benefiting UNICEF, where Mandy, N.E.R.D and Mika Nakashima will perform live for 7,500 fans at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium on April 9th.
"The Play for Peace concert represents Coach in the Japanese market - fun, exciting and innovative, while maintaining a social awareness that is consistent with the brand image," said Reed Krakoff, President and Executive Creative Director for Coach. Fans and shoppers in Japan will be able to pick up limited edition Scribble Signature wristbands to gain access to the Play for Peace concert at the Coach Ginza, Shibuya and Marunouchi Flagship stores in Japan beginning March 20th.
During this decade, Coach has been one of the fastest growing imported handbag and accessory brands in Japan, recently capturing the number two market share position. Coach's recently launched international advertising campaign featuring Mandy Moore is part of a large-scale, strategic marketing campaign featuring Coach's innovative and playful new Scribble Signature Collection, which will include magazines and outdoor advertising to run in Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Korea and Taiwan.
UNICEF is an institution of the United Nations whose mission is to build a world where the rights of every child are realized. They are involved in raising funds to assist the recovery of the victims of the tsunami, including an estimated 1.5 million children, many of whom have been orphaned or separated from their families.
In acknowledging the efforts of UNICEF, Coach will donate a minimum of $150,000 from the sale of Scribble handbags to this special organization.
